Lampard In Swap Deal?

Barcelona star Deco has dismissed renewed speculation that he could be used in a swap deal with Frank Lampard.

Reports in the English press indicated on Wednesday that Barca were ready to use the Portuguese international as bait to lure Lampard to Camp Nou in a £30 million deal.

The implication that the two European superpowers - pitted against each other in the UEFA Champions League group stage - could be ready to exchange their midfield stars is a long standing one, particularly given that Lampard's partner, Elen Rives, is Catalan-born and reportedly keen to return to her home country.

Barca sporting director Txiki Begiristain is also known to be a fan of The Blues' free-scoring midfielder, but Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has backed Lampard during recent criticism of his form and has always emphasised the player's importance at Stamford Bridge.

Now Deco, who opted to join Barca rather than Chelsea after winning the Champions League with Mourinho's Porto in 2004, says he has heard nothing regarding a transfer and, moreover, that he is fully focused on impressing for Frank Rijkaard's side.

"I don't know anything about it but that is not a problem for me," said Deco.

"I have a contract signed with Barcelona and my unique preoccupation is to play each Sunday."

Barca have refused to comment on the Lampard speculation, with a club spokesman stating; "It is the habit of this club not to comment on the news in papers related to players of other teams."

Now Chelsea have Ballack, i don't think they need Lamps as much as they did last season, but meh...i doubt it'll go through
