I feel the art of real conversation is dead, or at least dying....people mostly talk about themselves, or repeat what they've heard elsewhere, or turn a good debate into a mindless argument.....if you don't have the mettle, or education that allows you to converse properly......well.......I don't wanna talk to that guy!!

Thanks.....and the art of story telling is a dying thing too. Not in literature or film, but in coversation. I love telling a tale from my past.... most people I know can't do it well.....lack of education, vocabulary etc.

I make a pretty poor conversationalist, honestly. I can never think of anything to say, and often find myself in awkward silences with whomever I'm talking to. I'm much better at this whole forum thing, where I can plan out what I say, edit myself, and take pretty much as long as I want to say something. I just get nervous around people.

Its is sad....but that is TV/internet etc. for you....We have gained a lot technically...but i think we have lost somethinig in our communication skills as far as talking person to person goes...Because we are not forced to do it any longer..

We've created a rather sterile, non-humanistic world.

Kinda suits me currently, though.

(I think the internet forums help shy people to inter-act though....)

Yes that is a good thing about them..plus you have no preconceptions about who you are talking to.....for instance i wouldn't talk to many 13/14 year olds in my day to day life..if any.

I've got the makeup thing down to an art, practically...I can get it done in 10-15 minutes. I always make fun of my sister though, she says she'll be ready in an hour and we're still waiting for her after 3 hours...
