ITs technically 8 days. welll it starts at sundown tonight cus in Isreal their sundown is our day time. And its all about how the jewish people escaped from being egyptian slaves and got free and wandered in the desert for 40 years and got the 10 commandments and then got to isreal.

Easter's a Christian celebration gort...
|
gort
|
Actually, it's a pagan harvest holiday.
It's true that I am sadly lacking in Jewish faith canon....

no, Easter is a Christian festival... it remembers when Jesus was crucified and then rose again on the third day... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Easter

I'll agree that the Christians took it over....but it started as a harvest festival....

The name comes from that, but the celebration itself is Christian. It is based around the time of the passover as the last supper that Jesus had with the disciples was the passover meal, so it was passover time, and the date of Easter changes every year because passover does

Nah....no arguement!! There's no discussion of theology here......it's history!!
You're safe!!

i knew it must have been something to do with harvest festival cos i remember when i was in school we used to have a harvest festival concert thing near to easter

i used to in primary school as well, weird stuff, going to a christian school put me off religon for life (i went cos all the schools in my area are christian, and this one was closest), if you ask me (which you no doubt don't), religon in schools is wrong, if a kid whants to go religous, it should be up to him, not brain washing at a young age
|

i think most schools are christian as ive been to 5 different schools and helped out in 3 schools and they all do christian stuff to some extent, even though i hated R E i still think religion is fine in schools cos that way the children will learn at a young age all about different religions, then they can decide for themselves if they want to be religious or not

hmm, a fair point you have there
|
gort

I could discuss that topic for hours.........so I won't!!
You're welcome.

Nope.
Too incindiary.
Although the proper viewpoint is obvious.

yea, im getting that

I'll just say this..........
If you only teach the color red, you rob kids of the learning experirnce of blue and yellow...and the rest.
You can't expect kids to have red as their favorite color, when they don't know all the colors....
Maybe they'll like blue......or plaid......!!

That's a really good point, Gort. I'm framing that and hanging it on the wall!

I do a 9-11 war analogy that centers around a bar fight, too.
I think it sums up the problem quite nicely.
