I'm confused now. He did get frozen on New Years. It was 1999 before he got frozen and it was 2000 when he fell into the freezer right? So wouldn't he in the year 2000 if he went back or in 1999 going on 2000?

Well what happened was he got frozen as the counter reached 0. But when he woke up, there was another 10 second count down to the year 3000. Hence, not a 1000 year freeze!!

So Fry actually got frozen 999 years in the future. Because it was the year 2999 when he woke up. And it was 2000 when he fell into the freezer. Great, now I'm confused again! First Bender confuses me, now this!
